The bottom edge of the limbs should have a semi-circular (ish) cut out and about 3 inches towards the tips a metal skirted spung pin. If this is the case they will suit the riser you have

If I understand correctly, the tips move forward, but not backward..... The tension of the string will hold the limbs in place.

I'm not sure how much movement should be normal on a GM - there may or may not be a method of adjusting the limb pockets for weight/tiller - which will change the amount of movement you see.
