Yup, what Rik said. I'll add that paper tuning is pretty useful for compounds shot with a release aid. If the paper tear is vertical, it may indicate that the spring tension on your rest needs to be changed.

I've also got a NAP QuickTune 1000, and haven't moved it from the factory setting -- bang on medium tension. This works fine for me at all poundages.
