Remember that you don't want to line up the string with the center of the bow and then down middle of the arrow: the arrow should be about a half an arrow diameter to the left of the string since the fingers deflect the string to the left (assuming you are right handed), so this is the point at which the arrow will actually be released and start towards the target. (There's more detail than you'd ever need at "Tuning for Tens" on the texasarchery.org site. Yes, physics is the same out there and some Texans actually know something.
