only noticed this at the end of my practice session this morning and had no spray or anything with to check clearance (will do so tomorrow during the sighters for the competition im at)
my horizontal grouping has been a bit off for a while now but it wasnt until today that i noticed for (at least) the last 2 ends this morning EVERY arrow (and so by extrapolation every (?) arrow ive shot recently) was exhibiting the same behaviour in flight - kind of a half-fishtail - about 5 meters after leaving the bow the back end of the arrow kicks VERY noticably out to the right before straightening up and then flying straight (no more fishtailing) on to the target
(right-handed archer)
i have two thoughts on this -
1 - its a clearance issue but if this is the case im confused as to how the arrow is kicking out right (ie - into the bow rather than away from it as id expect if it was contacting something on the way out) - what contact could possible be causing this ?
2 - something in my release is causing this (the only club coach available had already gone home by the time i noticed today so couldt get it looked at) - is there anything i could be doing that might cause this movement ?
what puzzles me (and makes me think its a contact issue) is the fact that this movement in the arrow is a single one - once the rear of the arrow has kicked out and the arrow straightens up it flies straight and clean (no fishtailing or porpoising) but has obviously been knocked off course by that point
im as confident as i can be that the arrows and bow are matched in terms of poundage and spine so i dont think thats an issue
only other thing is ive recently refletched with quickspins - should i have the nock set differently for those ? and is there any way they could contact the arrow rest that would send them 'into' the bow rather than away from it ?
obviously i can check for contact and get someone to look at my action but wondered if anyone had any ideas as to the areas i should be looking at first
