Radical U-Turn

Not so long ago I posted in reponse to a thread about how serious you take your archery, saying I didnt take it too seriously and was not interested in tournements or score rounds. Well within the last 4 weeks I have taken part in my first AIUK Tournement (2nd birthday), I am waiting for confirmation of my 3rd class, and I am 2/3 rds of the way to my 2nd class

Is this common amongst other arrow chuckers, a sudden change from "playing" to "taking it all a bit serious", or did everyone else start of with a broad competative streak from the start?
