I started this project a few weeks back, after buyng a rough-cut, unfinished recurve riser from the US. The riser came as a basic block of Actionwood (laminated Hickory),wth no holes, not sanded & basically just hogged out into a risery shape. I initially planned on building myself another Hybrid Longbow (AFB) utilising some limbs I have kicking around the WorkCave. Then I saw the new Morrison & got to thinking..........I
might be ale to put together a really, really fast, short 'curve to shoot in HT, but with the speed of a Freestyle recurve. It'd give m a break from havin to shoot heavy poundage, but still retain my instinctive aim-point (so to speak)
I begged some limb pockets from a friend & ordered up some nice SF Carbon/foam limbs, the short 42#ers. Well, things happened in the old WorkCave & late last night I had a basic, rough as hell, hunting recurve.
Well, I got her finished up this morning! All the staining & laquer is dry & I've sculpted the riser to conform to the limb pads, fitted a little leather to the shelf & window, wooly whispers to the string & set the nocking point. I did a little polishing of the ally fitting just to give it a little 'lift'
MAN! she's a shooter! Don't have a chrono at home, but I can tell that she's waaaay faster than my 72# Pronghorn. I'd take an uneducated guess at somewhere between 220-230fps!!!
Here's the finished specs;
57-5/8" 54# at 28". I admit, she stacks a little over 29", but I'm sure that's down to inexperience & I probably should've ordered longer limbs, but as I'm only drawing to 29" anyway, I really don't care!
I've set it up with neutral tiller & a brace height of 7" using a 14 strand FF+ string with Diamondback serving. Seems OK to me

I'm actually having to make a consious effort to aim
lower than I normally would with my Prongorn!!
Here's the pics.....
ps. Let me know what you think. Good, bad, indifferent. I'd just really like to know! This is my first effort a building a bow & I'm open to criticism as to where I've messed up!
