With V bar & twins a recurve archer must use two rods for bow balancing. Only way to use a single rod is as a backweight (bushing on reverse side of riser). Backweights have very much gone out of fashion (and rightly so IMO) except in the US. Think (?) that only US manufactured recurve bows now include a backweight bushing so not a lot a choice anyway.
If your draw weight is high enough combined with long draw length then may need both V bar/extender/twins AND a backweight. Marco Galliazo's rig at Athens was set up like this.
