Stu 369 makes my strings and has done for a while.
Consistency is the name of the game I use a TS1 string which is lovely the material which was meant for compounds but I have had know problem on my recurve.
Unfortunatly it is getting harder to get hold off, so I will be trying some of stu's 8125 strings in the near future.
Materials do vary but the speed difference once you are using fast flight or above is not a massive amount, I find it is more about bow feel, consistency and string life some people like a waxed string some don't, try a few different materials and when you find one you like stick with it.
