Beiter winder is just a serving tool- albeit a good reliable one. I treated myself a while back when I wasn't so skint as now and I love it.

The little blue twister rod that clips in just makes the serving tool run faster down the string with less wrist-ache on a long straight run, that's all.

Beiter winder used same as all other serving tools, it's just easier to thread and easier (IMO) to get just the right tension for the serving.
