Hi Geoff
you would need to have a pc (or mac preferably) that is capable of recieving the dv from your camcorder and suitable editing software. My camcorder has a similar dv-out cable and that is what I use to transfer to my mac.
I use a powerbook G4 and edit on final cut, however imovie which comes with every mac does a good job. PCs are capable of video editing although though they dont do a good job of it. Filming for the internet is not like filmming for tv as there are certain things which dont work very well eg lots of camera movements or moving backgrounds. There are also certain tricks to getting decent quality video out of youtube as it is very easy to get horrific quality output out of decent quality input - I have spent many hours experimenting with it and to go into detail would result in a very long post!! Vimeo is much easier and quicker upload... although I still prefer (the challenge) of youtube.

It took me at least 2 and a half hours from plugging camera into mac to finally uploading to youtube. However that was very simple editing and more complex videos like the performance archery clips take tens of hours of production per minute of final output. (the editing vastly outweighs the hours taken to film and record commentry)

I am planning on making a video version very soon of EUAC's very successful novice coaching guide (written by asw)http://archery.eusu.ed.ac.uk/resourc...ing_guide.htm- it might be interesting to make a behind the scenes clip of that process and what is involved in making it so people can have an idea of the time and effort that goes into the production of these videos.

As a pure coaching tool where you film someone you are coaching it is relatively quick and easy, youtube has functions where you can upload directly from camera without the need of editing software. I have found it really useful to video myself when changing things about my form.
EDIT eg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBY16WWMesk
that is a short clip I did with the camera off my mobile phone and uploaded direct to youtube, quality is rubbish but is really quick is that the kind of thing you had in mind? - similar direct uploads are possible straight from camcorders... I believe
