Antipodean target boss construction

One for our antepodean posters. It's a follow up from othere threads, but there's one question I'd like to ask, that wasn't addressed in the 'how to build a target boss' posts.

Ok, so my understanding so far:-

Build a frame a little over 4 feet square
Put some cloth across one side
perhaps put some cardboard next to the cloth
Fill with plastic
More card
More cloth

Ok questions

What fabric is best? And how often does it need replacing
The plastic (I may be able to get hold of farmers field plastic) Is it layered front to back, or top to bottom? ie does teh arrow pierce losts of layers of plastic, or does it squeeze between layers?

That's all for now.

Thanks
