All the above is good advice - let me add one more thing...
DON'T buy anything until you have joined a club, done the beginner's course and preferably have shot regularly for a few months after that. Archery uses muscles that don't normally get much of a workout, and you will find that the draw weight (how much effort it takes to pull the string back) and the draw length (how far you pull it back and therefore the length of arrow you need) will increase quite quickly over the first few months. Any kit bought before these parameters have settled will become obsolete faster than a politician's promise...
