It's quite simple really. The "organisation" brings in "Management Consultants" who proudly display "MBA" after their name. As the main topic on an MBA course is how to get more work for yourself, they recommend a reorganisation (blow addressing the problems, if any!). However, to actually plan a reorganisation would have taken stuff learned in module 2 of the MBA course, which they missed, so they come up with the "interim measure" of getting everyone to apply for their jobs at the current spec. Now, here's the magic. At this prospect, at least 10% decide it's not worth staying in an organisation that works like that, so quit. Result, savings of 10% on headcount. Which, as the main problem anyone is trying to address is that there ain't enough dosh, is a result for the MBA crew. Anyone see "Friends and Crocodiles"?
