Hi all, after reading on here and doing as much research as I could (well as much as I could understand). I took the plunge and decided to upgrade my limbs from the original 30lb KAP Challenger limbs to something with more speed, stability and increased poundage.
I have been shooting at 50 yards for a while now and generally quite pleased with my groupings in the red/gold and want to move up to 70/90 yards.
I am currently still using my original Jazz arrows as I wanted to upgrade the limbs first and then hopefully upgrade to Carbon arrows later (cough xmas prezzie dear wife please xxx /cough ). I hoped that I could upgrade the limbs to something that would allow me to shoot well at 90 yards as and when I upgraded to decent carbon arrows without the need to upgrade them again later unless I just wanted to.
So off I went to pester Perris Archers this morning (on a Saturday he he - sorry Derk/Tony). I started off trying some Samick Athlete limbs at 35/36lb. They seemed quite nice but fairly stiff, although consistently so, and the guys thought the increased poundage was OK for me as my grouping was still quite tight. On talking with Derek he thought that at this drawer weight and with a decent set of carbons I could hit 90 yards no problem ( I draw to 30.5").
So I thought well in that case how much better are the top of the range limbs, knowing the rave reviews the W&W Winnex limbs have been getting and the slightly less rave reviews the Hoyt G3's seemed to have received. (With these things, I always remember that generally on forums those that are unhappy with something tend to shout louder than those that are happy).
So I tried the W&W Winnex ones and they were a noticeable improvement over the Samick ones, much smoother and lighter to draw.
Then I tried the G3's, and there was again a noticeable improvement for the same reasons over the Winnex limbs. They seemed much smoother and just a lot nicer more consistent to draw with and my groupings improved as well.
So the G3's it was and I am very pleased that I tried them all out. Thanks to everyone who keeps preaching "try try try" you are all so right. I so nearly didn't bother and was seriousley thinking of buying the Winnex ones that are on Ebay, Oh what a mistake that could have been, although I may never have known as I wouldn't have had anything to compare them to???
The expertise of the guys at Perris Archery is invaluable and I thank them once again for all their advise and help

(my whole family shoots now).
I am really pleased that I have a limb that I don't think I will need to upgrade again anytime soon, unless, like I said I just want to.
