I think the answer to the rotating question is that it is all but impossible to get the vanes fitted without some slight bias. Any bias will cause the arrow to try to rotate. I think that even bare shafts will rotate. It could be that the flex in the arrow causes the rotation, perhaps some of the energy that causes flex gets converted to rotation as flex decays.It may be a bit like plucking a string. It starts by vibrating forwards and backwards then slowly changes direction into side to side etc.
