I've just been experimenting with this idea myself. I've tried a couple of ways to increase the pile weight.

a) I got the shot from a shot gun cartridge. Used the grain scales to even out the shot then fixed it with a little solder.

b) Cut a length of solder into little pieces and used the grain scales to weigh the solder and then melted it into the points.

The point system for Carbon Hippo's from Alt Services has a couple of grub screws which go into the back of the point to up the weight.

I've yet to try mine at the club but a quick try at home would suggest I'm on the right track.
