String position, on nose or past

Hello All
I have been shooting (re curve)since April, and I am shooting distances of 50yrds, I have been coached/advised to bring the string back to the nose and anchor under the chin, but my arm maybe a bit longer than usual, and I find that my elbow sticks out a bit and is not in line with the arrow. However if I bring my elbow back a bit further, which is more comfortable to hold the weight of the string(30lbs), this would mean the string not touching the end of my nose, but going past it. I don't shoot this way at the moment, but does anybody have any comments.
Thanks

Jeff
