As Johnk says it can cause long term damage to your limbs.

If the limb tips are not Straight and working together then you will struggle with accuracy and the overall efficiency of the bow. This is more important than having the string running down the exact centre of the handle I have seen bows set up with Beiter limb guages where the string is dead centre but the top limb tip is pointing left and the bottom right.
