Florence, I'm sorry to hear about the ME. I have a similar problem to you but mine is MS. I cannot feel what I am doing to any great extent and using a clicker is the only way I can effectively control my draw length.

In this respect the clicker has helped me greatly (although some kind soul decided it would be better if I shot without one and removed it before I could object. Now I'm having great difficulty finding the correct placement again - must make a note of it when I finally find it).

I think that after the inevitable settling-in period you will find it a help. It needn't be set to the point where you have to 'expand' to get the arrow through it, just a bit of extra shoulder rotation should do. If you find it causes more problems than it solves you can always take it off again!
