Well from the sounds of it, you've done everything really to get the proper tune and thus optimum level of Energy given to each shot without it going all wonky. So from that I'd say the XQ1s are just not as good as the border's you have.
Maybe better craftsmanship or material resulting to greater efficiency?

Don't try to ruin your tune for the sake of reaching a distance, yes its good convinience with not moving your sight all the way in but I doubt you'd want your group to spread out like they're on high. sounds like You can still reach the longest distance but you just need to put the sight in. So that's not a real big issue IMO.

Yes to all the wise people who said to STOP and rest till your elbows healed, nothing worse than getting your self into deeper trouble with other muscle groups due to your elbow.
