I think that you should shoot whatever style you get the most enjoyment from. Recurve / Longbow / Compound, we're all archers.
I shoot in the longbow because it's what I enjoy most. I think that you should use the bow that you enjoy most. If it's a reluctant decision, then keep you favourite longbow and a set of arrows so that should you wish to come back, you can do so. (Or just bring it out every now and then to prove that you can still shoot a real bow
)
