I went through this a little time ago, as some of those who post here will remember my agonising at the time. I reflected at some length and for me it came down to this. I made the mistake of letting a bow define who I am. You risk a lot of disapointment if you limit your self image to "I am a Longbowman", or "I am a Recurve Archer" because if you fail to meet your own demanding (and often unreasonable) standards, you fail yourself - very bad for your Karma!

Picking up a new bow need not mean putting the old one down (at least metaphorically!) - have a break, refresh your outlook, forget old habits which might have been limiting you and when you come back, learn anew. It is far more fun and very liberating.
