I know that travel and hotel are paid for a very small part of the team that help as volunteers too just during the shoot (some judges, part of the results team and some others) but that's all.
About the cost of the Nimes shoot.
In an article in a local newspaper the Tourney Director said that the 2008 shoot budget was about 200.000€ (25% from the city of Nimes and the Languedoc-Roussillon region, about 25% from the registrations and spectators entry fees, all the rest from the sponsors).
On our forum a member of the organization wrote that the 2008 shoot budget was 280% more than 11 years ago when they started this adventure. At that time there was only one venue, foreign archers where only a very few and coming IIRC from six countries and there where no more than ~150 archers. At that time even judges who came from others regions paid their trip and stay.
And yes, the price of the venue is important in the budget. |

Thanks - I didn't mean to infer that anyone was paid in Nimes, I just feel that this may be a way forward for major events like this. Thank you for the additional information on budget and support received, that is very interesting to see, and to also see how the event has grown in just 11 years.
