If it makes you feel better, the woods are a bit technical.
They are Heritage Red and Heritage Black, which come in enormously heavy blocks. They consist of very thin laminates of wood compressed together and injected with coloured resin. The material is weighty (thanks Flying Whale), stiff and very strong. So the bow itself feels much heavier in the hand than you might expect, which suits me perfectly.
