It sounds dubious and I agree - however none the less it is a good gateway to archery and if the Leader running it has any inkling about what he is doing you should have a decent platform to really get a lot more people into the sport or at least exposed to it.

10 weeks... I can have someone shooting comfortably with consistant form in 1 - 4 hours usually - one or two sessions a week for 10 weeks, sounds about right to get a class up to a standard.

I'd personally send one of the club coaches along to have a chat and a looksee at what they get up to, help them out a bit. In the end they are all going to be coming to your club and having done the above you'll know they are good to go.
And of course print out some flyers about your club to take with you before hand
