I found the bowyers bible a really good read and very interesting and worth reading even for archers who dont intend to make a bow (part one that is, I have not seen the others)
but, The problem I found is the more you read on the subject the more daunting a task it seems and you eventually convince yourself its impossible, the trick is to just go get yourself some wood and have a try. Dont worry about failing, the wood is cheap and you will learn an awful lot just by having a go.
