shooting both longbow and barebow i find that with aiming i tend to use the same method with both.

that is to say that i start drawing up the bow while closing one eye and then put the arrow point on the base of the stand. After coming to rest I for a few seconds i move the arrow point up to my aiming point and move it to the left or right depending on the feel of the conditions and general experiance. This means that my hand and bow is covering the target but becuase i focus on the end of the arrow and use this as my aiming point it doesnt effect the shot at all. After holding it steady at the final aioming point i release as a normal shot so there are no repercussions on the stance and nearly dry losing as you mentioned
