I have used the Gompy self-adhesive chamois leather and liked that. The biggest failing is that it tends to fall off rather easily if you get a very wet day.
One of the juniors in your club (I am sure you can guess which one) uses Horse leg bandage. It is very cheap, is nice and thin, and easy to renew. Possibly the texture is a bit coarse, but I am sure you could ask to get a length from him to try.
I have also played with self adhesive tennis racket grip, but these were all rather thick.
