A Shoot Without Scopes. I judged a shoot today that was bereft of the line of trees that usually stand out on the shooting line. It was not a record status shoot so the town hall clock was not at stake so the organisers made a request that they would appreciate no scopes on the line. This I believe (I may be proven wrong) is unprecedented since the advent of compound equipment. This controversial request only received one comment after it was annoiunce, " Can we use them for sighters", this was allowed. The shoot proceeded quite well and may have taken less time! A straw poll of some of the archers found that some did not use scopes on the line anyway but those that did said they were a few points down. The shoot went very well and was enjoyed by everyone, for once it was not the only the longbow persons (political correctness) but recurve and COMPOUND persons who caused riotous laughter and jollification throughout the shoot. Should we bring enjoyment back into the sport (sarcasm) and ban scopes from non-national record shoots so everyone can have some fun. For those that were at the shoot they know where it was. I have kept the identitiy of the shoot anonymous in case they are quoted as the instigators when this becomes a widespread epidemic and enjoyment is brought into the forefront of a sport. Any comments!!!!!!!!!
