A shop use one of those laser things to check that the point of the arrow is in line with the string (for centre shot). This is a good starting point, if the side of the bow it is attached to is not at an angle.

Paper tuning at a short distance is also a good starting point. However ensure that you don't torque the bow or else you are bound to get a left or right tear (the chief aardvark himself proved this to me a couple of years ago - I couldn't get a bullet hole, but he could - he then demonstrated that moving the end of the longrod about an inch to the left or right at full draw he could make the same hole as me. A very good way of stopping me torqueing - thanks Lez)

I agree 100% with those who say bare shaft tuning is pointless with a compound.
