As Shirt said for 'balance' the higher the draw weight the further forward the bow centre of gravity needs to be (i.e. longer extender)
Similar relationship applies to arrow draw length.
To quote Vittorio Frangilli:

Making it very simple:
>28" draw : add 3" extender (total 6")
>27" drw : add 2" extender (total 5")


Combine high draw weight and longish arrows and you end up with a 7" extender - ouch!
