Ooh! I shot there last year, at the Bucks Champs Big Game (including, IIRC, a squirrel -
big game?) and had a fabulous time! I thoroughly recommend Westcott - they're a smashing crowd. If as you say it's possible to join the
NFAS on the day I may well consider booking in.
Will there be provision for vegetarians in the catering?
Warning:
NFAS/
GNAS/WFAA etc rant follows:
A frequent rant of mine is the complete lack of reciprocity between the various governing bodies. The shoot I did last year was under the aegis of the
GNAS, so no problem there with membership; however it really irritates me that the Powers That Be can't arrange some sort of mutual insurance cover in the same way that, say, motor insurers can. I can drive your vehicle on my policy (albeit third party only); you can drive mine on yours. Go to anyone else's shoot though, and it's almost on a par with walking into the enemy's camp. I understand that there's 'history' behind the various groups - there always is, in any sport or activity - but wouldn't it be nice if
GNAS members could shoot at non-
GNAS events and vice versa? Or is it just me who thinks the whole thing is a bit silly? No wonder we can't get funding and the like sorted out for our national teams: half the country's archers don't even know the other half. Isn't it enough that there's a 'great divide' between field and target, without there being another divide between different sorts of field and target?
Sorry 'bout that. Cuppa, anyone?
