Ooh! I shot there last year, at the Bucks Champs Big Game (including, IIRC, a squirrel - big game?) and had a fabulous time! I thoroughly recommend Westcott - they're a smashing crowd. If as you say it's possible to join the NFAS on the day I may well consider booking in.

Will there be provision for vegetarians in the catering?

Warning: NFAS/GNAS/WFAA etc rant follows:

A frequent rant of mine is the complete lack of reciprocity between the various governing bodies. The shoot I did last year was under the aegis of the GNAS, so no problem there with membership; however it really irritates me that the Powers That Be can't arrange some sort of mutual insurance cover in the same way that, say, motor insurers can. I can drive your vehicle on my policy (albeit third party only); you can drive mine on yours. Go to anyone else's shoot though, and it's almost on a par with walking into the enemy's camp. I understand that there's 'history' behind the various groups - there always is, in any sport or activity - but wouldn't it be nice if GNAS members could shoot at non-GNAS events and vice versa? Or is it just me who thinks the whole thing is a bit silly? No wonder we can't get funding and the like sorted out for our national teams: half the country's archers don't even know the other half. Isn't it enough that there's a 'great divide' between field and target, without there being another divide between different sorts of field and target?

Sorry 'bout that. Cuppa, anyone?

/me wanders off to put kettle on

What's the likely cutoff point for booking in (i.e. actual cutoff and/or do we need to book soon to avoid it filling up)?

Jane's got a lot of school reports to write, and isn't sure she'll be able to spare the day.

Best course of action would be to contact Westcott Archers

Ah - one question answered (from reading the entry form!) - it's prepay, entry by 2nd July. Here's hoping Jane has the reports well on the way by then!

Im sure we could squeeze more people in on the days leading up to the event. And its going to be an interesting shoot with shots you havn't shot before let alone seen. Ferret has done his best to keep you all amused and interested.

We did another walk around last night and some pegging of the course.

Ferret has got some very sneaky shots to keep you thinking.

There are going to be a lot of scratching of the old head to get some of the distances.

With all of the rain the wood is still very accessible, and don't forget we've got the bar for use afterwards - either for celebrating or a commiserationary pint

Thanks for that info - I'll see what's going on. Jane's just had an OFSTED plonked on her school on Monday, so I have a feeling that she'll be too knackered to run round the woods - and she'll still have reports to write as OFTSED prep will take precedence.
