Arrow Spine

Arrow spine is worked out on a 28inch arrow how much does this alter if you make a longer arrow
EG. I draw 30inches so make arrows 31inch long so am making wood arrows 3 inches longer I know that a longer arrow has a weaker spine and you can also change the spine by the point weight.

But how much does the 3inch extra change the spine of the arrow

If i want 55pound spine arrows should i use 60 pound shafts?

What kind of bow will you be using the arrows with? I am shooting a 29 1/2" wooden arrow (28 1/2") draw length. 125 grain piles. Black Douglas with XP10 limbs 41# @ 28". Arrow spine 55/60. If I went up to a 31" arrow I would go up to 60/65 spine at least.

I am shooting 40/45 woodies 29" long out of my 45# Epsilon (45# on my fingers). I think 45/50 spine would be better though.. Hope this helps? My guess is with 31 inch arrows you will need to go up at least two spine ratings compared to a 28" arrow.

There are others on this forum that know much more about this than me!

Am shooting 45#/50#s off a 45# Hunter and they're fine (well, they would be if I could get the nocking point height right!!!)

Dusty

I figure you need at least a 55/60 spine woodie but it depends on how good your release etc is...

And on your point weight. Light points will keep your arrows stiffer, so you won't need to go up so far in spine.
