Bowhunters McNab

I recently found out about a Bowhunters McNab - whee the bowhunter must take a fish, fowl and antelope with a bow. The level of difficulty ranges from doing all this in one day, one week or one month, so all levels of bowhunter can be accommodated.

So far, a few people have already completed a Platinum, ie taken all three animals within a single day.

It has taken place in South Africa, in the Eastern Cape province. I will try to post more details if I can.

Interesting concept!

RE: Bowhunters McNab

The closest legal thing like that I've shot in the UK was a venison shoot at Company of Sixty. The animal targets were divided into fowl, deer and pigs, whoever scored the highest in any particular group won a prize of that particular meat. Fun.

Matatazela, as the World Bowhunter Championships are being held in South Africa this July, will you be taking part. I'm not able to go myself, but I do know several UK archers that are.

RE: Bowhunters McNab

Unfortunately I will not be going. My field skills and shooting are not even close to what they should be!

I only recently (last six months) got back into archery and my bow is a very old compound. 28" dl, 46" ata, 64# with a 10" brace height, probably shooting at almost 200 fps! At least I am hitting the bag now, though, and practising a lot. I am saving for a new bow. It looks like I will settle for a Reflex Grizzly but would like to extend myself and maybe go for the Hoyt Ultramag.
