Question First day out on Sunday !!

I've finally managed to get onto a shoot with Regent archers, this Sunday. As a complete novice & seeing as this is my first field shoot, is there anything I need to take with me, or need to know before I go? How many arrows will I need? etc.....
Any help appreciated.

As much as you can comfortably carry, or wear about your person and still shoot

Plenty of snap and liquids, minimum 6-8 arrows.

Hi Rob
Don't feel under pressure to shoot from the furthest pegs until you feel confident and comfortable with the distances.
Do what you feel happy with.
Enjoy the fresh air and the company and have a great time

Hi Rob
Sadly this won't get to you in time!! I was going to say be calm, there are a lot of medium to long shots at Regent. But I expect we will get some feed back when you return home, hopefully having had a grand day out!
Good luck!
Iain

Sunday's result

Sorry this has taken so long. I had a BRILLIANT!! day on Sunday
There were only 3 others on the shoot; Bob, John & Ernie & I'd like to say a big 'Thanks' to all three of them. I spent all afternoon going around with Bob, getting hints & advice on all kinds of things that I hadn't even considered! ie; allowing for 'dead' ground, a target in a 'tunnel' looks a helluva lot closer than it actually is etc... I cannot believe how much more laid-back & relaxed field shooting is compared to target shooting ("There's only one major rule here; Don't shoot anybody" :Ernie) I can't wait for my next round (not for 2 weeks due to other commitments ) I'm definately joining the NFAS after this!
Looking forward to getting over to Riggwelters at some point in the future!

Glad you enjoyed yourself, it's so easy to get hooked on field archery.

Riggwelter put on the NFAS 3D champs in 2004, just as the club was being formed. I think it was the same woods where they now shoot. If you get a chance, go there, you won't be sorry.

Field Archer
Hi how you doin' actually no the venue is not the same. We asked to use the ground there but we were refused because of North Yorks CC rules on use of agricultural land for liesure activities, plus the owner is now dead!
we are still in Otley but on the south side. Our tournaments officer said tonight that she is is expecting to have a summer shoot, we the field team groaned a bit 'cos we is all sufferin' from over work (as in real life!) but no doubt if she says it is to be then it is to be. As secretary I am still plowing through the paperwork to set up our FITA gig in October, and I EXPECT all you Yorkshire and NCAS folk to be there!
