Druids Remarkeable 2Day Field Shoot

I thought I'd post this to let some of you know what our side of the sport is about.
Most field shoots are usually one day affairs but the summer time brings on a spate of two dayers.
Our weekend started with a drive from Harrow down to Wiltshire to visit Field Archers club.
We arrived at about 6:30 at a field basically in the middle of nowhere, there were a good number already arrived ,so on with pitching our tent then over to the marquee for a well deserved beer.
Druids ground is set in the middle of some stunning countryside with wonderful views all around.
These two day events attract archers from quite a distance so it turns into quite a social occasion giving us all a chance to catch up with old friends and also to forge new friendships.
Up early Saturday morning, into the marquee for a full English brekky at a very reasonable price, assembly, then out on the course for the first days shooting.
A very challenging course awaited our efforts which being "fur and feather" meant you only had to hit the animal targets somewhere to gain a score.
There were water points out on the course to get refreshed(it was hot)as well as passing the tea tent three times during the shoot, burgers sarnys tea coffee and cake was available and what burgers, what cake, all home made these guys really know how to keep their archers happy.
The end of the first days shoot and back to the tent for a shower, wind down then off to the marquee for the feast that had been put on for us.
Chicken, spare ribs, lamb stew salad followed by apple pie and cream. All washed down with Archers beer,we had a barrell to get through by Sunday evening.
Sunday and the weather was not too hot thankfully and off to the course again.
Different target faces had been put up by the course elves and the pegs moved to basically give us a fresh course, also the scoring changed to wound lines to make the course tougher and you had to be more precise with your shots.
End of the day and prize giving followed by the raffle.Yup thats different.
Most people went home but there were a few of us left to mull over the weekend and chew the fat on a truly peaceful Sunday evening watching the sun go down in this beautiful part of the English countryside.
Thanks to everyone involved for putting on a remarkable and memorable shoot.

Thank you Paul for your kind words, it’s always nice to get feedback, especially when it’s good. I have already had quite a few e-mails from archers thanking us for the shoot.

Well done on your bronze in Longbow, so nearly silver, only two points in it after both days shooting. Results are on the Druids website.

Several people took photos, when they send them to me, I will go through them and put some on the website. Here’s one I took, predator and prey target, a dinosaur carrying off a fully grown Aberdeen Angus.
