Birds Nesting Behind Target Faces

We now have two targets out of bounds on a 28-target course because birds (wren and blue ***) have nested between the target face and the boss. The wren got one helluva fright before we found its nest about 4 inches to the right of the spot (where all the arrows were, it being a 35 metre target).

We paste face on corrugated card, but after rain the card expands and opens a gap between it and the foam boss. It dosn't take long for a nest to appear.

Other than getting more people shooting the course to keep the birds at bay and the targets tight to the boss, is there anything that can be done to prevent nesting?

We went to get some of the kit we use for our tournaments out a shed on Friday and a brand new wasps nest had been built on the door

To late to call pest control out so, as tournament organiser, I volunteered to go in and get the kit we needed. Lets just say it was the quickest I have moved in a while.

Could you waterproof the targets better? (Duct tape fixes all problems, you just have to work out how to use it)

I think the answer is going to be to use 8 or more target pins (bits of coathanger) to hold the targets in place. That should keep the face against the boss even when it gets wet. However, those who miss around the edges might complain...
