Karen
At a meeting of our exec om Thursday night, I mentioned you comments on this post and mooted the possibility of trying an experiment next year based on your regulations, ethos, credo etc. So if you can give me as much info on how to do it that would be usefull. Lets see if we can't start a riot!!!!
We might even have access to 3Ds by then!!!

The regulations for the bow types for 3dI can be found on the fita website under the Miscellaneous Rounds section of the 2006 rule book,
For the french rules in the 3d it is roughly the same and so includes AFB s (Majority of longbow archers here are AFB)

Will post all the regulations in English at the end of this week, or if its too long to post will post a link so that you can know all the rules before you arrive.

Its not really too complicated - just slightly different in the odd thing.

Look forward to shooting with you all - anyone having a go at the 'Grand Defi' ? Three different bow types to shoot in the same competition - I'm going to try it - can anyone advise me what to do on a compound without sights - I only draw 32 pounds with both my longbow and recurve BB - what do you suggest for a compound bow ?

Right - so its next weekend now !

Still a few places left if you want to hop on the ferry to get away from the uk weather - we're currently well above 20 degrees here every day, and theres a lovely campsite by the river if you just want a break.

Who's coming ?

Hi Karen,

my team of ten are all booked, and heading across early on Friday morning (very early) and we will all be wearing white t-shirts with operation H written on them, will also have my AIUK Fleece knocking around. Please come up and say hello to us.

It does look amazing, the pictures on the site look great. We are all very excited.

most of us are Grand defi shooting as well, although who knows how that is going to work out, we still have to chat to the organisers on the friday eve to check where our bows all sit in the comp.

see you there

joe

Thumbs up

Hi Karen & Larry,

Just wanting to write a Big Big Thankyou for both your help and support during the fantastic shoot.

for those of you who missed out on the best shoot I have ever seen, get booked in for next year and meet the most wonderful people, exceptionally talented archers (Yes that is for you Karen as you did take the 1st place Longbow).

the whole team are grinning about the shoot and we are getting ready for next years when we will be returning as operation Invicta, so you will have to put up with us again.

please let us know what feedback you get from the organisers, and keep in touch.

Kate and I are researching French Lessons (although considering my target group included Spanish as well that may have to be added)

when I get more time I will write a complete review of the events, but really wanted to get my thank you in as early as possible

Merci Beaucoup (probably spelt wrong lol)

Joe and Kate and all the team

Bonjour - merci a tous les anglais qui viennent a le festival !

Dear Joe and all your team - thankyou for the compliments about my shooting - must admit I was definitely 'in the zone' or whatever you call it on the Sunday - felt I could hit a pinhead at ten miles !
Not every day you can beat the World Champion by such a margin.

But I hope you all had a good time - this was a festival run by Archers for Archers and you could certainly see the difference - there are many good things being said about it and some very encouraging noises so we are hoping that it will become a regular weekend.

How did you like the French 3d systems ? Personally I think that they are much nearer to actual hunting as the distances are much more realistic - maximum 35 metres - would you really want to try and kill anyting at a distance greater than this? This makes it much more of a precision sport as you have to actually think about where on the animal you are shooting, and not just take general aim as you might with the long distances involved in some kinds of 3d shoots.

But above all the weekend was about the meeting of new archery friends and having a good time whilst taking part in the sport that we love.

If anyone else wants to come and join us in the next one don't hesitate to ask for anything you want to know - I think that all the British archers had a good time and they participated in the very best spirit of the festival - a bit more practise and they will be a force to be reckoned with next time!

I look forward to it - might even prise myself over to England for a shoot later this year - should be over around November if anyone can recommend anything around then.
