Things to bring to a field shoot

Having tried 3D, field and clout for the first time over the weekend, I realised that I was missing some much needed items, such as:

Towel or tassel to clean arrows
BREATHABLE waterproofs
Gaiters
Knife/pliers

Are there any other things you seasoned field archers can recommend as *must haves* on a field shoot?

Some things I carry in my quiver:
  • A set of allen keys
  • Micropore tape
  • Dental floss
  • A pair of needle nose pliers
  • Tissues (to dry scope lens)
  • Scope cover
  • Wax
  • Serving thead
  • Chocolate
Also good:
  • A waterbottle and holder to attach to quiver belt
  • Binoculars
  • For competition days a backpack with built in seat (I don't bother with this on practice days)
  • A hat (I can put up with rain, as long as my face and what is left of my hair is dry)
That's about it I think...

I was reliably informed by Seddy that the first item on the agenda for any trip to the woods is a flask or two of coffee, or in your case, tea.

Oh, and don't forget the bow and arrows.

All this is always on my belt. Webbing belt that is, not trouser belt. They'd fall down with all this on.

As well as holding my quiver and arrows my belt holds :

Small pouch holding latex gloves and plastic bags.
Tubi-Grip bandage.
Insect repellent.
Spare shooting glove and field tab.
Pen (on a string tied to the belt) and a spare.
Arrow puller.
Arrow tassel.
Baby powder.
Arrow finder.
Chocolate.
Boiled sweets.
Knife.
Whistle.
First Aid Kit.
Pouch to hold score cards and more chocolate.
Water bottle.

If it's likely to rain, a water proof coat hooked over the back of the belt like this http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne...0368407&size=l

Hat to keep the sun off my head (the hair is disappearing fast) or to keep the rain out of my eyes.

I forgot to ask but was this the first outing for the bent stick?

Did you enjoy the experience?

Here's my little list of essentials, not all needed in good weather, but they always go with me in the car.

Things to wear, or take with you
Walking boots
Gaiters
Waterproof trousers
Waterproof jacket
Hat
Tubigrip
Umbrella
Small rucksack (Camelbak type are good, next item is then not needed)
Drinking water bottle
Sandwiches, or similar
Pen
Plastic bag for scorecard
Arrow puller (one that works when wet)
Knife
Spare tab (I dropped one once, you can’t walk back to find it)
Insect spray
Things left in the car for when you’ve finished
Dry clothes
Several supermarket bags for your wet clothes and boots
More food

Yes, it was the first one. Probably a bit cushy compared to most field shoots as it was a residential weekend with all meals catered for, but it was a good way to try out this sort of shooting. It was really good fun, although I kept forgetting my jacket, so I was in a wet t-shirt most of the time. Luckily it wasn't cold and I dried out relatively quickly.
