Has anyone tried a Donadoni Picchio recurve bow?

Hello all,

just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts, reviews, heard anything about the Donadoni Picchio bows?

looking on the site, I have fallen in love with the design, looks so cool, just wanted to see if anyone has shot one?

the site is

Don't like the look of the bows and the leatherwork is very expensive!

The Proof of the pudding is in the eating........... mmm

Sorry, the only way to know the quality of a bow is to shoot it. The last thing you want to do is order one without either shooting it, or knowing at least a couple of people that have shot them.

These bows can either be very good, or so much kindling.

Great bow for the money!!! I had a Picchio and it was a good quality recurve - way better than any of the Samick hunter-type bows for about the same money in my opinion. I sold it when I got a Border Black Douglas which was obviously smoother and faster to shoot but cost a lot, lot more. He describes the riser as "massive" but I think he means solid or sturdy as it is quite weighty but not at all cumbersome. The sight picture is more suited to "instinctive"/barebow-type shooting and it shot very well off the shelf. The riser finish was nice - mine was an oiled satin. If I were to get another recurve I'd definitely look at the Picchio again. Donadoni was a cool guy to talk with (although his English isn't great) and he is a seriously good archer with contest results to prove it. I had the money to buy a Martin Hunter from him and he told me the Picchio was a far superior bow. He recommended Beman ICS Energy shafts and they flew out of the Picchio.
