Let's see your knives

Seeing as knives are my other major hobby (but I'm OK really ) I'm interested in seeing what everybody uses for digging their arrows out of trees and suchlike and what features you feel make a good 'archery knife'.

Here are my current archery carry:

Wow, cheers guys Sorry Paul, I'm away to Castle on the 15th going to have to give Avalon a miss this time

Malc, it all depends what you want mate! Anywhere from £30 for an antler handled bowie (only small, around 4" blade) £20 for a wood-handled skinner (3") I've got a really nice little sheath knife up for sale at the moment (2nd from the bottom, on the first pic) which I re-handled with laminated leather £25 or if you want something reeeeeeeally special....... I'm just about to start on a 'frontier' style bowie. 7 1/2" of 440 carbon steel blade, brass bolster & pommel, figured yew handle plates, all finished with walnut oil £160 I can pretty much fabricate what anybody wants (within reason ) I don't do 'fantasy' knives, just honest, working blades.

's a lovely little folder! it's actually a copy of a Buck (£8 as opposed to £30!)

Here's a few more I'm building up to sell at the moment........

These are my all time favourite blade shape. Really good skinner...

A classic skinning blade....

These are amazingly heavy little blades, only 2" from tip to bolster .....

And my BIG 'frontier' blade.....

All the blades are either 440C carbon steel (classic skinner & frontier) or 01 carbon steel (t' other two) They all take & hold an amazing edge & will easily shave hair!

I'm hoping to have 'em all up & done over the next few weeks (as soon as I get a new roof on me workshop )
I import the blades from a guy in Ohio (dont arsk ME about shipping costs!!!)
& make handles to suit, from antler, tropical & native hardwoods, bone, leather, hell anything I can get my hands on!! I also make wet-formed lather sheaths to suit.

Yep, good work there Rob, which one do you use for archery?

Have you not considered sourcing blades from a bit closer to home? There's some fantastic makers from the UK & Europe.
