It all depends on who made the chisel or screwdriver - these days (cue grumpy old man complaining about 'modern' tools) a lot of screwdrivers and chisels are not tempered properly, so are as brittle as glass (they keep a good edge but won't prise the grain apart). Not only that but those lovely hunting knives are also not designed to bend very much. The first time I tried to lever a shaft out with my nice shiny Buck hunting knife, I ended up with an expensive screwdriver! Great knife for skinning a bear, but not much use in Brighouse unless the local circus has been over casual with its animal transporter.
I note you are a TP fan Flandyman - perhaps going out armed with woodworking tools might get you nicked for Breaking and Decorating!
