I've owned both the Samick SLB and the Internature Viper, and both were decent bows for the money. They seem to sell for around the £100-125 mark,

I'd give the SLB the nod myself, but the Viper is a better looking bow. Go figure.

Also, don't overbow yourself- 40# at 28" is plenty for now- it'll get you around any field course around.

And while you're in Quicks, get yourself a fletching jig and a taper tool and start making your own arrows- you'll recoup your investment in the first three dozen arrows.
