The black is OK.
You know, sounds to me like you want an Apex. Go get one. Get your draw length measured so that you are not leaning back, have a straight bow arm, and have the release hand on the side of your face and you should be within some string twists of the right draw length.
I often get customers in looking at gear and you can tell they have their heart set on something. It may not be the 100% best choice practicality wise, but it's what they want. That's the bow to buy IMHO otherwise you won't ever be happy.
The Hoyts need to be kept an eye on constantly, however if they do go out of time you may not notice anyway.
So in summary, go get yourself a Mathews Apex 7 and enjoy it!
