Not quite.
The Bowtechs are finished with a film dip, same as Mathews camo bows. The finish on the Bowtechs in black or camo are first class. I didn't like their chrome colours this year, but their 2005's were anodized. So are the diamond targets.
Limb finish the Bowtechs kill Mathews. The Mathews limb finish is the worst in the industry in my opinion. My Ovation looked terrible after 1 month and my other Mathews I had to treat with extreme care.
As for machine quality there is no difference between the Bowtechs and Mathews. They are both excellent.

I would happily shoot both brands.

Popularity is based on cam design. That's why Hoyt, Mathews and Bowtech rule.
