| About to buy first kit, is there a danger of getting kit "too good" for me? Hi all,
I hope you can advise me on my first purchase (as you all are far more experienced - and therefore hopefully can guide me from the pitfalls of first set-ups!)
I completed my beginners course about 4 or 5 months ago and since then have been shooting weekly - I love it!
I am shooting 60yrds currently on a 70", 30# wooden riser setup with a pretty long draw, I am on 30.5" arrows (heaviest bow they have as a loner and longest arrows although arrow length seems ok to me not sure yet what weight I will pull or in fact what I am pulling at my draw length!!)
But it has become apparent that its time for me to now buy my own gear !
I will be heading over to Crick to get most of my gear as our club sings very high praise about them indeed.
But before I step into the world of choice and go nuts - I though it best to ask a few questions... Riser - Personally I dont like the look of the GM at all, and the Eclipse looks...well...like a cheap version of a better riser to me :/
Quite like the SF riser but not seen one in the flesh yet
As a beginner, is it worth, or is there any reason NOT to buy a more snazzy riser? I like the look of the Hoyt risers (aerotec, helix, matrix) are they actually any good and are they worth the £300 odd they cost? Quiver - I would really like a nice looking target quiver - quite fancied the W&W magnetic one but according to altservices its not out yet..and it is a bit pricey! Any suggestions? Sight - think I will go for a the Shibuya Dual CLick Aluminium - anyone think thats a bad idea? Tab - personally I have not used a platform tab yet, I hear that now that benefit of bone-on-bone is back in debate, should I get a platform riser or stick with what I know so far?
I am sure there will be far more questions shortly - but hopefully thats enough for starters!
Limbs will be mid-range ones as I am sure that piece of kit will need changing sooner rather than later...
All the best
