Agreed, especially for recurve, and on a really bad weather day it sorts out the men from the boys as you do not have the same catch up opportunities as with a FITA. Shoot a bad 100yrds and your final score and handicap will reflect this, shoot a bad 90m and a bowman score is still within easy reach.
Finally, you do not have to put up with 36 arrows at 30m.
