| It is interesting that people consider the longer distances to be more challenging. I just see them as allowing random factors (weather) to affect scores. At my first FITA shooting compound I was lucky to be on target 1 which was sheltered from the wind, those on target 14 were not so lucky.
Perhaps it is my Field Archery background that lets me see this differently. A steeply downhill shot at 6M at a 1" diameter 'gold' can be a lot more challenging than a 60M flat shot at a 6" diameter 'gold'.
I've yet to see anyone regularly score 360 at 30M in competition, so it isn't too easy yet. It does require a very strong mental approach to continue scoring 10's after already shooting 9 dozen arrows. Is that not a challenge too? |
