In fact, pretty much my entire setup consists of the cheap stuff (see profile), and that hasn't stopped me getting to first class and beyond with it (shot a bowman score the other weekend  ). The only area where the money buys you points almost immediately is arrows - do buy platinums (xx75s) if you can.
Essentially, buy intermediate club level stuff now (like the evo 2 or similar), and upgrade it when you're experienced enough to appreciate the difference and cope with the faster setup carbon/foam limbs and carbon arrows produces. |
Agree about Cartel stuff being good for the money, I had a Cartel tournament sight bought new for £12.75 from eBay (Thanks Targetcraft £15 cheaper than other vendors!) which served me very well and now I have an Arc Systeme SX10 carbon (again from T.craft) my daughter uses the cartel, and we have both shot well with it.
As always though try to have a shoot of the bow and sight setup and be sure that it's the one for you.
