Even if you are not CERTAIN that the gear is yours I would report it.

As an ex-copper myself I can assure you that the police would rather investigate it and find no problem than to not know about it. You never know what else they may uncover. Theft often funds other activities as you know.

I'd agree with those who've already said to contact the police. These people need stopping
